Hi ,
There’s something about January that feels a bit humbling, isn’t there?
Not because it asks us to become a whole new person…but because it quietly asks us to be honest about where we’re actually at.
And now that we’re more than halfway through the month, this is usually the
point where I start hearing things like:
“I was doing well… and then life happened.”
“I feel like I’ve already fallen off.”
“I should be doing more.”
If I’m being totally honest with you (and myself), every time I’ve had a proper reset - in fitness, health, or life - I’ve wanted to rush straight to the part where:
• I’m already consistent
• I’ve got loads of energy
• I’m eating brilliantly
• Everything feels easy again
But that’s not how
real, lasting change works - especially in midlife.
A Real Reset Starts With Honesty
Every true reset I’ve ever made has started the same way:
By being radically realistic about my capacity, my energy and my habits right now.
Not last year.
Not before Christmas.
Not the version of me I hope to be “soon”.
And when I approach things from honesty instead of fantasy,
everything feels lighter… calmer… and much more doable.
Here’s the big takeaway:
👉 Momentum is built by matching your routine to your real life - not your ideal life.
“Falling Off” Isn’t a Discipline Problem
When women tell me they’ve “fallen off track”, it’s almost never because they’re lazy or unmotivated.
It’s usually a capacity
problem.
Their routine stops fitting their life.
Guilt creeps in.
And suddenly starting again feels huge and overwhelming.
But when you give yourself permission to scale things back, simplify and reset with intention, consistency becomes so much easier.
This week isn’t about being perfect.
It’s about creating a routine you can actually live with.
One Simple Thing to Do
This Week....identify your true baseline.
This step changes everything.
Ask yourself (honestly, kindly):
• How many workouts can I realistically do this week?
• How much time do I truly have for food prep?
• What is my energy like right now?
• When in my day can I actually show up for myself?
Whatever your answers are - that’s your baseline.
Not the version of you who trained five
times a week once.
Not the version of you from last spring.
Not the version you think you should be.
Your baseline is where your comeback begins.
From here, your routine becomes:
• Supportive instead of stressful
• Aligned instead of aspirational
• Doable instead of draining
And this is how momentum is built - the kind that actually lasts.
You’re Not Starting Over - You’re
Resetting
This is the perfect time to pause, recalibrate and reset with intention.
And if you’d love support with this - a plan that meets you where you are right now and gently guides you forward - this is exactly what I do inside my 12-Week Midlife Mojo Method.
It’s not about extremes.
It’s not about “all or nothing”.
It’s about strength, energy, confidence and building habits that work for
this stage of life.
You don’t need a new you....just the next you.
