Hi ,
We’ve just returned from a wonderful long weekend in Dorset, celebrating our wedding anniversary. On Monday we marked 21 years married – and this month it’s also 28 years together!
We took our caravan (and of course Mitzi came too – she loved every moment).
- Friday was our travel
and set-up day.
- Saturday was a mix of showers and sunshine. We headed to the beautiful town of Sherborne. The very first shop we saw was an ice cream shop – and well, it would have been rude not to! Delicious. We enjoyed mooching around the shops before heading back for a cuppa in the caravan and later out for a cosy pub meal.
- Sunday we visited my lovely friend Claire, who moved down to Dorset earlier this year. It was so nice to
see her settled and loving life there. Mitzi came too and after our visit we enjoyed a local countryside walk with incredible views as the sun was going down – absolutely stunning.
- Monday (our anniversary) we visited Lyme Regis – what a gem! Walking along the famous Cobb and enjoying another ice cream was a real highlight. Later we explored Weymouth. It wasn’t as picturesque as Lyme Regis, but I was pleasantly surprised at how clean,
sandy, and welcoming it was. We found a great little pub and enjoyed a perfect anniversary meal.
All in all, it was a wonderful break. The caravan site was perfect, and although we had to head home Tuesday, we’ll definitely be going back – there’s still so much more we want to see and do.
Why Breaks Away Matter
Sometimes we get so caught up in the busyness of life that we forget the importance of slowing down. Getting away – even just for a
long weekend – is so good for the body, mind, and soul.
- It gives your body a chance to rest and recharge.
- It clears the mind and brings perspective.
- It allows you to connect more deeply with loved ones (and even yourself).
- And of course, moving and exploring new places keeps us active in such a joyful way.
Coming back refreshed meant I was ready to get straight back in with my wonderful LIFT ladies on Tuesday evening, full of energy
and inspiration.
So if you’ve been putting off planning a little break – take this as your reminder: go for it. Your future self will thank you for it.
Wellness Tip – Rest is Part of the Plan
It’s easy to think that progress only comes from working harder, but the truth is rest and recovery are where the magic happens. Just like a muscle grows stronger after rest days, our minds and energy levels bounce back when we
step away from the day-to-day.
So don’t see taking time out as “slacking” – see it as a vital part of your health and fitness journey. A little pause might be exactly what you need to come back stronger.
