Hi ,
It’s 4 weeks today since I had a mole removed from the bottom of my right foot - and wow, what a rollercoaster!
The first week was the hardest. I couldn’t put any weight on it at all - moving around meant crawling on my knees, climbing stairs on my knees and coming downstairs on my bum and hopping to get
around downstairs! It was painful, frustrating and exhausting. But I was so grateful that I’m fit and strong enough to manage it - even if it looked a little ridiculous! Mitzi couldn’t work out what was going on at all!!
I had to cancel all my PT sessions that first week, and thankfully Vicki stepped in to cover Pilates - a huge thank you to her and to everyone for your understanding.
By the second week, I was back at work
seeing PT clients. My foot felt easier and I could get around a bit better, though I still couldn’t put full weight on it. Two weeks ago I had my stitches out -only to find that my wound hadn’t healed as much as I thought. It set me back a week, and for a couple of days I was hobbling, hopping, and crawling again. Honestly, I felt low - I really thought I’d be walking and back in the gym by the end of that week!
But here’s the lesson: setbacks
happen. Life isn’t always linear and sometimes it throws curveballs.
This weekend, I finally got to go shopping with my sister for her birthday (we’d postponed due to my foot) - and yesterday, I returned to the gym for the first time in 4 weeks. I did upper body training and absolutely loved it! Gym time and walking are my “me time,” and I had missed it more than I realised.
I’m giving myself grace as I get back into
it:
- Lifting lighter weights
- Avoiding heavy squats, deadlifts, and hip thrusts for now
- Focusing on what I can do, rather than what I can’t
Today, I’ll do light lower body on the machines and slowly build back up over the next couple of weeks.
The Takeaway...
If there’s one thing I want to share with you, it’s this:
Even when life throws you off track, your
strength, consistency and mindset are what get you back.
- Be patient with yourself
- Focus on what you can do
- Give yourself grace and celebrate the small wins
That’s exactly how my Midlife Mojo Method helps women in midlife stay consistent - even when curveballs happen. We celebrate the wins, adapt to challenges and keep progressing, one small step at a time.
If you’ve had a setback - whether it’s an
injury, a busy week, or just life in general - remember: you can always come back stronger. Progress doesn’t need to be perfect; it just needs to keep moving forward.
If you’d like support, structure and accountability while navigating life’s curveballs, reply to this email or click HERE to apply for the
