Hi
Let’s bust a myth today: spending hours at the gym or doing countless reps isn’t the secret to getting results. In fact, overworking yourself can do more harm than good. If you’re working out but not seeing progress, the problem likely isn’t your effort - it’s your strategy.
And let me tell you – quality over quantity
matters!
The idea that “more is better” often leads to overtraining and burnout. Studies have shown that the body needs rest to rebuild muscle and improve strength. For example, a 2019 study published in Sports Medicine found that shorter, more intense workouts (like HIIT) can be just as effective - if not more so - than longer sessions for fat loss and cardiovascular health.
When you focus on quality, you’re targeting the specific muscles and systems that help you achieve your goals. Whether it’s building strength, improving endurance, or losing
weight, intentional movement makes a bigger impact than simply logging hours.
Signs Your Workouts Lack Quality:
- You feel exhausted instead of energised after working out.
- You’re plateauing, despite consistent effort.
- Your form is suffering because you’re pushing too hard.
If any of these sound familiar, it’s time to shift your focus to proper technique, recovery, and
balance.
So, what’s the smarter approach?
Think of your workouts as tools for building your health, not punishments for what you ate. Short, efficient sessions can be just as effective - if not more - when they’re done with intention. For example:
- A 20-minute strength training session targeting all major muscle groups
- A 15-minute HIIT workout to boost metabolism
- A restorative Pilates flow to improve
flexibility and recovery
You deserve a workout routine that works with your body, not against it. If you’re ready for a better way, let’s ditch the burnout (and the often inevitable quitting) and find a sustainable plan that helps you feel strong, confident and capable. With you in this, we’ll focus on creating a routine that fits your life and your goals.
