Hi
A massive congratulations to Liz for hitting a major fitness milestone last month – a 100kg barbell hip thrust! This is no small feat and it shows just how far dedication and commitment can take you. When Liz first started her personal training sessions with me a year ago, she had never done a barbell hip thrust before. But now, she’s confidently lifting 100kg and reaping the
rewards of her hard work. Along the way, she’s not only built serious strength but also dropped body fat and increased her muscle mass.
What makes Liz’s journey even more impressive is that for years, Liz had been dealing with back pain on and off, something that many people face, especially as they get older. But since starting strength training with me, she rarely experiences back pain anymore. Strength training has not only built her muscles but also strengthened her core
and supported her overall posture, which has played a huge role in reducing her pain.
Liz's story with me started long before her first personal training session. She used to be a member of my studio when I ran it and reached out to me last year, eager to take her fitness to the next level and get stronger. While she was already exercising regularly, she wasn’t focusing on strength training. Together, we created a plan to help her build the strength she needed to crush her
goals – and she did just that!
Not only has Liz built serious strength, but she’s also enjoying the everyday benefits of functional fitness. Whether it’s picking up her 5-year-old son, playing actively with him, or moving through her day with more energy and confidence, Liz is living proof that prioritising strength and performance can dramatically improve your quality of life.
Why Setting Fitness Goals Beyond Aesthetics Is So
Important
In a world that often places so much emphasis on appearance and the number on the scale, Liz’s journey is a refreshing reminder that fitness is about so much more than just how you look. Setting performance-based goals, like achieving a 100kg barbell hip thrust, can have a much deeper and more fulfilling impact on your health and happiness than simply focusing on weight loss.
Here’s why setting fitness goals beyond aesthetics is
crucial:
1. Building Confidence Through Strength
When Liz started, she had never done a barbell hip thrust before, but over time, she learned the technique, grew stronger and built incredible confidence. Every time Liz added weight to the bar, she felt more empowered. This sense of accomplishment extended far beyond the gym, proving that no matter your age, you’re capable of so much more than you realise.
2. Functional Fitness
Improves Quality of Life
Liz’s strength training journey isn’t just about how much weight she can lift – it’s about improving her life. Because of her increased strength and muscle mass, Liz can now easily pick up her son, play with him and move through her daily tasks with more energy and ease. On top of that, her chronic back pain has drastically reduced, showing how much strength training can positively impact physical health. Strength training has given her a functional fitness
foundation that enhances her day-to-day life.
3. Fitness Goals Keep You Motivated
When Liz set out to achieve the 100kg barbell hip thrust, it gave her something tangible to work toward. Focusing on performance-based goals is a great way to stay motivated, even on tough days. This kind of goal-oriented training keeps you engaged and gives you a sense of purpose in your fitness journey.
4. Dropping Body Fat Comes
Naturally
Even though Liz’s primary focus wasn’t on weight loss, her commitment to strength training naturally led to a drop in body fat. Strength training is one of the most effective ways to build a lean, toned body while improving overall health.
5. The Aesthetic Benefits Follow Strength
When you focus on getting stronger, fitter, and more functional, aesthetic changes often follow. Liz’s increased muscle mass, fat loss and her reduced back
pain are perfect examples of this.
Celebrate Your Own Fitness Wins
Liz’s incredible story is proof that you can get stronger, fitter and healthier – and even address issues like back pain that many people think they have to live with. Whether you’re in your 20s, 30s, 40s, or beyond, it’s never too late to set meaningful fitness goals and see real progress. By focusing on strength and performance, Liz built resilience, confidence and improved
her overall quality of life.
Be like Liz – set goals that challenge you, focus on what your body can do rather than how it looks and you’ll find that the results will naturally follow. Once again, huge congratulations to Liz on her amazing achievement – the 100kg barbell hip thrust is a testament to her hard work, dedication and the power of setting meaningful fitness goals. I can’t wait to see what you achieve next!
