Hi
Our bodies love equilibrium - essentially, we prefer the comfort of "same old, same old."
When the scale refuses to budge, our bodies seem perfectly content staying at that number. When we're stuck at a certain strength level in the gym - say, a 50kg Deadlift - our bodies seem to thrive in that state of inertia.
But is it
really our bodies that resist change?
Not exactly. The truth lies in our brains and more specifically, in our beliefs.
Have you ever noticed that whenever your income or savings exceed what you thought was possible, something happens to pull you back? A boiler breaks, the roof needs repairs, or maybe the car needs fixing. It feels like the universe is conspiring against you.
Or consider this: every time the number on the scale drops below
what you believed was possible, it seems to quickly rebound, sometimes even higher than before.
And what about that frustrating plateau in the gym, where you just can’t seem to push past a certain benchmark?
These aren’t coincidences. Each of these scenarios is deeply tied to your beliefs.
Maxwell Maltz once said, “A person’s level of success can never rise above the one visualised internally.”
Take a moment to reflect
on that. Read it again if you need to.
“A person’s level of success can never rise above the one visualised internally.”
In other words, once you set the bar, it stays put - unless you decide to move it.
Can you identify a way you’ve been holding yourself back with limiting beliefs? I’d love to hear about it. Reply back and if you need some help with your health and fitness let’s see if we can work together to break through those
barriers.
